Information about becoming an Undergraduate Research Fellow (URF) in the Rumba Program at OSU
- Applicants will complete an online application form. The application will consist of basic information concerning the
applicant (e.g., year in school, GPA, etc.) as well as an approximately one-page statement describing the student's
interest in a particular project. To assist students in identifying projects, we have placed short descriptions of potential
projects here. Students are encouraged to talk with faculty associated with the various projects
that are of interest to them. Students will also need to provide an advising copy of their transcript by e-mail.
- After applications are evaluated by the Rumba faculty, students may be contacted by project mentors to arrange an
interview. The purpose of the interview is to assess the level of interest of the students in the project and the fit of the
students with the faculty mentors.
- Students will be notified concerning acceptance into the program as a URF.
Review of applications will be on-going, with all applications received by January 30, 2010 given consideration. We anticipate beginning funding of URFs in the Spring Quarter 2010, although projects may begin earlier if appropriate faculty-students are identified.
